What
What is a fire risk assessment?
As part of the Regulatory Reform Order (Fire Safety) 2005, it became a legal requirement for businesses with five or more employees to conduct a Fire Risk Assessment. You should carefully look at your premises from a fire risk perspective, identify potential risks and improve your fire safety precautions to keep people safe. The order requires UK businesses to identify a competent person to keep a written record of all assessments and the actions taken to mitigate any risk posed by fire.

Who does the fire risk assessment legislation apply to?
- You are an employer responsible for the premises from which you operate
- The owner of a business premises
- The landlord of a rented non-domestic premises
- The occupier of a rented non-domestic premises
- Anyone else with control over all or part of the building, such as a facilities manager, building manager or managing agent

How is a fire risk assessment carried out?
